In order to work as a Nurse or Midwife in Australia, you must apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is the body that assesses all applications for registration from internationally qualified Nurses and Midwives on behalf of the NMBA.
What are the eligibility criteria?
Qualification
B.Sc. / Post B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Nursing / GDN
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 months as a Registered Nurse in the last five years. Recent Graduates applying for registration for the first time are required to meet this eligibility criteria.
English Language Requirements
Any one of the below tests is acceptable. (Clubbing scores are acceptable, but note that two test sittings must not be more than six months apart. Please check for eligibility of your clubbing scores.)
- IELTS score of overall and Individual 7
- OET score of overall and Individual B
- PTE 65 points
- TOEFL with a minimum total score of 94
