Victoria plans to remove COVID-19 quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated international travelers.

From next month, Victoria is set to scrap COVID-19 quarantine requirements for international arrivals, following in the footsteps of New South Wales. What this means is that people arriving in Victoria will not have to quarantine at home or in a hotel.

The requirement for arriving travelers is that they should be fully immunized and test negative for coronavirus.

At present, this change is expected to apply to returning Australians and their immediate family, and will most likely come into effect on November 1, the same day it happens in NSW. These announcements are likely to be made at the COVID-19 media conference at the end of the week.

This change has come even as Victoria recorded 2,232 new local coronavirus cases, the second-highest daily tally in the state.

In the meantime, Melbourne emerged from lockdown at midnight. Since the start of the pandemic, Melburnians have endured 263 days in lockdown, the highest in the world. It is expected that entertainment venues, hospitality, hairdressers, and indoor community sport will reopen with capacity limits.
